Government of India sanctioned the Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster proposed by Panjab University Chandigarh and IIT Ropar. Cluster will be receiving Rs. 10.35 cr as ignition grant from the government which will be used to setup the cluster and to undertake the R&D projects

Prof. Sonal Singhal , Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh and her research group have recently developed a lab scale model for the eradication of toxic pollutants from wastewater. The model is based on the concept of wastewater treatment setup. Under this project, the research group has prepared a catalyst by utilizing the biomass derived from sugarcane bagasse. The goal of this project is not only to tackle the problem of wastewater but also the conversion of waste biomass into value added products with a vision of sustainable development. Dr Mahaldeep Kaur, who has recently completed her Ph.D. under supervision of Dr Rachna Singh, Dept of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, has been selected as Visiting Fellow, U.S.A. National Institute of Health (NIH). She will join National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, Maryland.

Dr Indu Pal Kaur, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Chairperson UIPS, Panjab University Chandigarh was awarded with the prestigious NATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AWARD 2021 & 2022 for being the “Top Indian Individual for Patents Filing, Grant & Commercialization”. Out of a total of more than 200 applications under the category (male and female), she had highest points and was awarded under the Female category.
