Panjab University has clinched the overall champion trophy at the 2024 Inter-University Youth Festival, held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana (Nov 29 - Dec 2). Competing against 16 universities, PU excelled in 45 events across literary, heritage, music, fine arts, and dance categories under the aegis of the Department of Youth Welfare. Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood today delivered the Panjab University(PU) Foundation Day Lecture-cum-Pran Nath Vohra Oration on the topic of 'India @2030 Marching Forward: Science and Technology Space in India'. PU also commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of Late Dr. Om Parkash Vig, a distinguished chemist and former Chairperson of Panjab University's Department of Chemistry by releasing a biography chronicling Late Dr.Vig’s life, achievements, and scientific contributions. A special cover release by Indian Post was also unveiled on the occasion.

The 38th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neurochemistry India (SNCI) and the International Conference on "Innovation and Future Perspectives in Neurochemistry" concludes at Panjab University in Chandigarh. Dr. Ramesh Kataria, Department of Chemistry, PU has been awarded a patent for the innovative water treatment technology, titled "Framing of rGOCocatalyst on Zn-MOF: A Light-Based Degradation System for Dyed Waste Water Recovery," introduces a novel composite, PUC-8@rGO, that efficiently degrades dye contaminants in wastewater using light. Others in the team included Kushal Arya & Ajay Kumar (Research Scholar), Dr. Surinder Singh, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Prof. S.K. Mehta, and Dr. Vinod Kumar (Central University of Haryana), highlighting the impactful research conducted in India.
