NSS Panjab University organized Amrit Kalash yatra under the campaign ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’, celebrating India’s 75 years of independence.
The yatra started from Gandhi Bhawan and culminated at Gandhi Bhawan via law Auditorium, Ankur School, Hon’ble VC house, and main library. The event was organised under the leadership of Dr. Parveen Goyal, Programme Coordinator and Programme officers, NSS, PU and event saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Additional Director, RUSA as chief guest, Dr. Nemi Chand, SLO, Chd state NSS Cell, Prof. Simrit kahoon, DSW(W), Prof. Rajat Sandhir & Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Members, Senate, Prof. Roshan Lal, Dept. of. Psychology, Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, and Dr. Rajiv, Regional Centre to name a few. Mitti/grains brought in by the volunteers was collected in the Kalash pot to be handed over for the purpose for creation of ‘Amrit Vatika’ with a view to pay homage to India’s bravel heroes. The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program aims to emotionally connect every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of creating a great India. The special attraction of the program was the 21 children of Govt School, sector 25 who along with their two teachers participated enthusiastically in the event. Dr. Parveen Goyal along with other dignitaries presented a token to these children to mark their presence and recognition. 235 nss volunteers attended the event.
