Panjab University has a well-established state-of-the-art facility to promote the culture of entrepreneurship, employability, innovation hub, and training under various grants received by the University such as SAP/CAS, RUSA, PURSE, TEQIP, TEC, etc.). These centers provide the best educational environment for learning the skills of business /entrepreneurship by working with acknowledged researchers, scientists, and creative and enterprise communities. The main objectives of these innovation hubs are to:

Foster a culture of innovation amongst young dynamic students/researchers

Promote start-ups based on novel technologies

Commercialize technologies by making a network between academia, nearby industries, and government institutes.

Currently, the Panjab University Incubation Centre serves as a bridge to translate innovations into novel products with improved analytical techniques. Panjab University also created a pre-incubation center in different departments of the university for developing innovative ideas and start-ups for the purpose.

PU is a multidisciplinary university that abodes a vast range of Academic Departments covering sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Humanities, and Arts and runs a variety of research programs. Different departments provide knowledge to students about the market/entrepreneurship/ business. This fosters a culture of applied research and need-oriented (societal or industry) innovation and techno-entrepreneurship among young researchers and through holistic ecosystem.

The entrepreneurship development cell (EDC) of the engineering department of the University organizes panel discussion, workshop, camps, and competition and significantly contribute to developing the idea of start-ups.

PU has also established a skill development hub equipped with facilities for imparting scientific and technical skill training in addition to soft skill training to students. Therefore, the main purpose of this skill development hub is developing economic, cultural, and social value among young generations of entrepreneurial-minded graduates.

The University has established a knowledge cluster- CRIKC (Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster) to collaborate with a neighboring research institution in both Science and social sciences. It is a natural creative incubator where the region’s tech, cultural, and scientific ecosystems merge. This hub presently act as a catalyst for high-tech and creative clusters by feeding through a talent pool and stimulating knowledge transfer.

University has a well-described intellectual property rights policy and rules for consultancy that are administered through the center for Industry institute partnership program (CIIPP). University

innovation cluster is further well synergized through equal support by the DST- CPR (Centre for Policy Research) and DBT BIRAC.

The university has a reputed Business school and Applied Management Science that closely interact with technology departments to give the desired perspective to students for taking knowledge to the marketplace.

Besides that, the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a premier institute of the University contributed significantly in terms of developing several novel pharmaceutical products/ technologies for industries, and lead molecules which are successfully commercialized.

PU departments regularly conduct seminars, workshops, and conferences to enhance students’ skills to get employability in various industries as well as community development and cooperate social responsibility and welfare programs for the community
