A Table Calendar, integrating environment with societal insights, was released by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig alongwith Prof Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instructions (DUI). It has designed on the theme on United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is a collaborative effort of Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany and Dr Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. “This innovative calendar represents a harmonious blend of scientific insights and societal perception, demonstrating the interconnected nature of sciences with social dynamics” said the Vice-Chancellor. This showcases the progressive perspectives from the realm of life sciences, delving into critical aspects of sustainable development and ensuring a holistic understanding of the theme. She said that this calendar is a visual delight with breathtaking photographs shot using a mobile camera by Dr Gaurav Gaur.
While appreciating the efforts Prof Rumina Sethi said that “Dr Gaur has remarkably applied his photographic proficiency and creative mind to raise awareness about the SDGs to inspire a collective commitment to a sustainable future”. With engaging design and a call to action, this calendar invites individuals to contribute to sustainable practices in their daily lives. Such interdisciplinary collaborations create a unique and impactful platform to foster a deeper understanding of the SDGs and drive a positive change. Prof. Prof. Anju Suri, Dean, Faculty of Arts, was also present during the release. The dignitaries appreciated the celebration of the fusion of science and societal consciousness to propel us toward a more sustainable and equitable world. The calendar is prepared under the Environment Education Program of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change funded by Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, the state nodal agency.
